Valeria Yela

Research Assistant

Valeria Yela is currently an undergraduate student at Columbia University majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. She is deeply interested in the intersection of neurodevelopment, trauma, and emotional regulation. She is currently a research assistant at the DAN Lab working with the CALM study. This study allows her to contribute to research that directly examines how mental health influences brain function and emotional outcomes. In the future she also hopes to pursue a career in medicine, with long-term goals of becoming a neurosurgeon contributing to a deeper understanding of how developmental trauma affects the brain.
